Oscar's Forever Home Update

April 13, 2004
Oscar is doing just great! Nate and I stayed home for our spring break and had lots of time to snuggle and play outside with our two dogs. Oscar is probably not going to get much bigger...he's 60lbs but seems to have tapered off in the past couple months. He loves to lay down with you and still has that shar pei look to his face with the extra skin. We have been training him to "hug", and he sits up on his hind legs and puts his paws over your arms when you hold them out. :) It's still pretty cold up here but we're taking them to the vet to get any treatments and shots. Oscar loves being outdoors and chasing birds...we have a huge field by our house that he plays games in and likes to run in circles around Layla, our other dog. I hope all is going well for you and all the pups! It's nice to read your newsletters and find that several have been adopted. Keep it up! :)
Take care,
Jessica

Hello Jan,
Oscar is doing great. He and our other dog are best buds and always have to be snuggling when on the floor. Our digital camera is broken so we'll have to try and figure out how to send a picture. Oscar is 55 pounds as of his last vet appt. in November. ...he might be up to 60 lbs. now, but I'm pretty sure he's stopped growing. ....I gotta run as I'm teaching right now but thanks for the email and hope all of the kids at your house are doing well. Take care!

Oscar is doing great and had so much fun with all the friends and doggy buddies around for the holidays. He is so snuggly and loved that we were with him 24 hours a day for two full weeks. We can leave him with Layla, our other dog, for the few hours we are gone each day, and they have fun basking in the sun and playing with all their toys. Hope you had a great holiday and Happy New Year!

Hey Jan, Looks like you have busy mornings! I just wanted to quick email you to let you know that Oscar is going to the vet tomorrow to get neutered. He's doing just great and is still relatively small...about 40 lbs. He loves being scratched on his chest and will usually fall asleep while sitting and getting supreme rubbing treatment. :) He is getting a lot spunkier and loves to mark his territory...I'm wondering if getting neutered will calm that part of him down or not! He and our other dog, Layla, are at the point where they always sleep so that they are touching each other. Oscar usually uses her body as a head rest. :)
Well, I gotta run as my Kindergarten kids are ready to come in! Have a great week, and I will send you Oscar's receipt and proof of surgery this week for the refund. Thanks!

Hello Jan,
I just wanted to send you a little note that Oscar is doing great. We're still working on training him to wait and go outside; he has accidents every once in a while, but he is getting better and better. He is still so loving and snuggly. We bought him a new dog bed and he loves it when he's not sleeping in our bed. We love spending extra time on the weekend cuddling in bed. He just loves strangers, too...it's almost funny when we have guests over; he just sits there and watches them for awhile. Then, he decides he likes them and will just sit there waiting to be pet. All our friends want to dog sit, but we've only had to leave him overnight once with grandma and grandpa. He's been quite spoiled by them...they've got their "Oscar" blanket for him to lay on the couch with. :)
Well, I've actually gotta run but just wanted to send you a little note about how he's doing. We're having so much fun outside with this great fall weather. He just can't get enough of being outdoors with Layla to run around and play. Hope your family and the pups are all doing well.

Jan,,br> Pugzlee (Oscar - we renamed him) is doing fantastic. We just spent the weekend at our cottage on Manistee Lake and he had a blast playing on the beach with Layla. He hasn't had any health concerns, and seems to be a very calm puppy so far. He is almost potty trained, and is going to grow up into a wonderful dog. Thanks so much for all your help.
