Henry's
Forever Home
Update

Hi Jan,
Home without a peep. He is very shy. Likes his safe place right now. He ate his 1 1/2 heaping tablespoon of food. If that’s all he gets for one meal it seems there is more than 2 meals in each little baggie. I want to get it right. Our cat is just looking at him. No hissing or getting puffy. Our family can’t wait to meet him at Christmas. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Jan,
It appears he is getting used to his new home. Slept well last night. Doing well with transition from 6am and 3 pm feeding to 7am and 4pm. He sure has a good appetite. He may be a candidate for a name change from Copper to Popper, because of the way he pops up and down from the furniture.

Jan
We have decided to name him “Henry” which means “ruler of the house”.

Hi Jan,
Henry is doing fine. He is adorable and so loving. We love him. I am concerned about his water intake. He just doesn’t drink water at all. Is this his normal? He does have urine. We are working on going potty outside. Certainly not fun today. Anyway, let me know if this is his normal.
Thanks,
Kristin

Well he sure is a funny little guy. I have never had a dog like him. He is sweet as he can be and very affectionate to me. He is very shy and timid around other people and dogs. I don't know why he is this way and I hope as he develops trust with his new home he won't be so fearful of other people. He is fine with my husband, although he always chooses me first. We are working on house training. He will go potty if I take him out on a regular basis, but does not seem to get the idea of going to the door to go out. Of course the weather is not very nice right now, but even the nicer days don't tempt him to go out. He is eating well. I did change him to the Fresh Pet diet. It's cooked chicken and vegetables and he really likes it. Could you recommend some type of treat he might like? Especially for training purposes. Also he doesn't seem to want to play with any toys. He still has the ones you sent with him, but he doesn't seem interested in them. What he will cuddle with is his sweaters. I got him two of them for this colder weather and he will snuggle with it if he isn't wearing it. I know we haven't had him for very long, so I don't expect him to feel totally at ease here, I just want him to be happy and content. He loves sleeping and spending the day up on our bed. He has a good view of the front yard and living room from the bed. I got him some stairs for the bed so he can get up on his own. He will use them to go down, but still prefers to jump off the bed. That concerns me as I don't want him to hurt himself jumping from our bed. I love this little guy and want him to be happy. Maybe you can tell me a little more about his past that will explain this behavior.
Thanks,
Kristin
