Peke A Tzu Rescue's Available Dogs

Our Goal
Many of the babies that arrive into our care are not house trained nor leash trained. Our main goal when they arrive is to let them know that they are loved and safe. We first address their veterinarian needs and then we meet their emotional needs. We spend endless hours holding them close to us, teaching them what belly rubs and kisses are all about, letting them know that each is very special to us. They are never scolded for having potty accidents in the house, this is the least of our concerns. When we know that they feel safe we then begin to gently work on house breaking and leash training issues. Many of our babies leave our care not fully house and leash trained, but they leave us packed full of love and trust and that is Our Goal!

Brinkley
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on February 5, 2005. My name is Brinkley.
I am a 10 lb, black and white Shih Tzu boy. I am 11 yrs old.
I was left at a shelter all alone and here I am romping and playing with all of the pupsters. I am one energized bunny, don't slow down often. I am a bit shy and it takes me time to warm up to strangers. I am still a bit unsure about life and can nip out of fear. Once I get to know you I love to be held and cuddled.
I love joining in at playtime with the rest of the pupsters and am first in line for the treats. I would love a home where Mom/Dad could be home with me all of the time and I need a fenced in yard. I prefer no small children.
Because I am a senior, my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health.  Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am enjoying a yummy turkey & veggie mix raw diet now. Mom alternates between turkey, beef and chicken raw diets. Please read about my special diet. Mom adds the following supplements: digestive enzymes, probiotics, kelp, DMG and salmon oil for a healthy balanced meal. I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet.
I am house trained, am leash trained and do well during grooming.
I am neutered, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300.

Chantilly
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on March 25, 2005. My name is Chantilly.
I am a sweet 13 yr old Maltese girl. I currently weigh 6 1/2 lbs.
I have been a breeder all of my life. When I arrived I had very little coat, just wisps of hair. Look at me now! I have had blood work done and am on thyroid medication. I am blind, both eyes are shrinking a bit due to possibly a bout with glaucoma or some kind or corneal trauma. I had this thing called a dental and have only five teeth left, but this doesn't slow me down on my eating, I just munch away. My mouth feels sooo much better.
When I first arrived I was very docile and quiet, but look out now! I am wagging my tail, jumping around for attention and can do twirlies with the best of the pupsters. I love all of the doggy bed houses and crawl in and curl right up. I sure am liking all of this lovin' and cuddlin'.

Bentley
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on April 1, 2005. My name is Bentley.
I am an 11 lb, brindle and white Shih Tzu boy who is packed full of energy. My 11 yrs do not slow me down a bit.
I was left at this horrible place called a shelter. I was so very lonely, but along came my rescue angel. I just love life - give me toys and I will entertain myself forever. I can get a little selfish sometimes with the toys, but Mom is teaching me this is inappropriate behavior. I love to run and play and be loved. The best thing in life are these things called belly rubs - can handle that all day long. And, oh, the soft cushy beds are a dream come true. I have lost the sight in my right eye, but this does not slow me down a bit. I would like a home where there are no small children and one or two other pupster playmates.

Newman
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on May 19, 2005. My name is Newman.
I am a 9 lb, 17 yr old Westie Mix. I am white with a bit of cream color on my back and ears. I have long legs for my little body and aren't my ears something else? You know I am getting a bit older, and sometimes change does not come easily. My Mom and Dad decided to have children and I just could not adjust so here I am just waiting for another home where I will be loved and cuddled. I am a sweet, sweet little boy. I love to snuggle up closely in bed with you and laps are my very most favorite place to be. I do well with the other pupsters, but am not very interested in toys. People are definitely the in thing for me! I love to go for car rides, do well on leash and during grooming. I do have potty accidents on occasion, but Mom says that is what belly bands were made for.

I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet.
The tooth fairy visited me in January 2009 when I had my dental and I have 10 teeth left. I am neutered, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. My last bloodwork was done on 1-12-09. Toto
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on August 16, 2005. My name is Toto.
I am an absolutely adorable, 6 yr old, 13 lb black and white Cairn Terrier mix.
I was found wandering the streets all alone. I ended up in this place called a shelter and no one cared enough to come and pick me up. Actually I am kind of glad because this place is great!
I am your typical happy, energetic terrier. Love life, love the toys, love people. I can be just a bit shy at first, but once I know you look out - your lap becomes mine! I have a congenital abnormality in my left eye - the iris is stuck to the lens. Other than that, I am a healthy little boy.
To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important. I am working on house training and can be a bit nippy during grooming, but am working on that. I will need a home with a fenced yard and no cats please. I also am not fond of children.

Demi
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on November 4, 2005. My name is Demi.
I am a very sweet 9 lb, blonde and white Shih Tzu girl. I am 9 yrs old.
My owners did not keep track of me very well and I ended up lost in this big world, but the rescue angels were there waiting for me.
I am a very lovable little girl and give the best kisses ever! I can however, have a bit of an attitude at times so it will take someone who understands my needs and can have lots of patience with me. I really truly have so much love to share with the right Mom and Dad. I do not care for the other pupsters so prefer a home all by myself. I have seen this wonderful gentleman called an ophthamologist, but unfortunately I lost my battle with glaucoma in my left eye and it was necessary that it be removed. I will need to be on eye meds for my right eye for the rest of my life. I would love a home where Mom/Dad can be home with me all of the time. Absolutely no small children.

I am house trained, behave during grooming, and do fairly well on leash.
The tooth fairy visited me in December 2008 when I had my dental and I have 21 teeth left. I am spayed, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. My last bloodwork was done on 12-2-08. I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on December 1, 2005. My name is Spencer.
I am a very handsome parti colored Pekingese boy and weigh 12 lbs. I am a young energetic 13 yr old. I was born on May 21, 1996.
I have made a lot of puppies in my day, but it is now time for me to settle down and live the life of luxury in my very own Forever Home.
My tail is always wagging and when you pick me up I snuggle right in and even give you a special Pekey kiss on occasion. Mom says I have the cutest Pekey smile and laughs when I favor her with my toothy grin. I get along well with all of the other pupsters and love to romp and play. I would love a home with another pupster to keep me company. I would not do well with small children.

I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on December 30, 2005.
My name is Olivia. I am 11 yrs old and weigh 12 lbs. I am a very sweet, lovable Bichon Frise girl.
I have been retired from the breeding world and am ready to find my very own special home. I am quite shy, but am learning that this is a wonderful place and I am surrounded by love. I really like all of the pupsters here and surely like to romp and play. There are all of these things called toys that look really interesting. Everyone else here seems to enjoy them so I know eventually I will too. I know I do love all of the warm cushy beds and cuddle right up with the rest of the pupsters. I would love a home where Mom and Dad could be home with me 24/7. I also need a fenced in area. I am so looking forward to finding my very own Forever Home.

My name is Julian. I am a handsome blonde and white, 7 yr old, 15 lb Pekingese boy.
I was found as a stray and spent 10 days in this very lonely place before my rescue angel arrived. I am a very sweet, lovable little boy that asks nothing more than a soft lap to lay in, belly rubs and lots of kisses. I do fairly well with all of the other pupsters, but can be a bit alpha at times. I love the soft cushy beds and all of the toys. Chester
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on January 10, 2006. My name is Chester.
I am 11 yrs old and weigh 15 lbs. I am a handsome blonde and white Shih Tzu boy.
I ended up at a shelter and was very, very frightened for I can not see and I do not hear well. My time was limited, thank goodness my rescue angels arrived. I am a very sweet, lovable little boy. I find my way around the house very well and sometimes play with a few of the pupsters. I can smell out a treat in a minute and even though I do not hear well, I know when that refrigerator door opens. Our opthalmologist said that I have a corneal facet present in my left eye due to a previous perforation which we are treating with drops. I will not regain vision in this eye, but with the medication it will reduce the facet and my eye will be ok. I have a mature cataract in my right eye. I get 4 different drops each day. During consecutive visits my eye continued to improve and we were hoping cataract surgery could restore the vision in my right eye. With further evaluation my opthalmologist does not feel that cataract surgery will be successful.
