Peke A Tzu Rescue's Available Dogs

Our Goal
Many of the babies that arrive into our care are not house trained nor leash trained. Our main goal when they arrive is to let them know that they are loved and safe. We first address their veterinarian needs and then we meet their emotional needs. We spend endless hours holding them close to us, teaching them what belly rubs and kisses are all about, letting them know that each is very special to us. They are never scolded for having potty accidents in the house, this is the least of our concerns. When we know that they feel safe we then begin to gently work on house breaking and leash training issues. Many of our babies leave our care not fully house and leash trained, but they leave us packed full of love and trust and that is Our Goal!

Dustin
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on January 20, 2006. My name is Dustin.
I am 8 yrs old and weigh 15 lbs. I am a very handsome gray and white Shih Tzu boy. I was born on July 1, 2001.
I am a retired breeder and am really enjoying just laying back and relaxing. Everything around me is so new. I am just observing life right now...watching all of the pupsters play with these things called toys and they appear to really be enjoying it. I know I will be brave one day and join in the fun. I am very, very shy, but am beginning to really like those hugs and kisses that Mom and Dad give me. I also have found these nice soft beds and enjoy cuddling with the rest of the pupsters. Please forgive my pictures, but I am very good at avoiding the camera. Actually, Mom is always trying to sneak up on me and take a picture, but I out run her every time. Boy, it is like having the Paparazzi on your heels, she is relentless! I would like a home where I have a fenced in area to romp and play in. I also would like Mom/Dad to be home with me 24/7.
To maintain my excellent health, my diet is extremely important.  Mom wanted to feed us the very best diet available, so Peke A Tzu Rescue became a distributor for Oma's Pride Raw Food products. I am enjoying a yummy turkey & veggie mix raw diet now. Mom alternates between turkey, beef and chicken raw diets. Please read about my special diet. Mom adds the following supplements: digestive enzymes, probiotics, kelp, DMG and salmon oil for a healthy balanced meal. I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet.
I am working on house training and leash training.
The tooth fairy visited me in December 2008 when I had my dental and I have 24 teeth left. I am neutered, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. My last bloodwork was done on 12-2-08. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300.

Sydney
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on March 4, 2006. My name is Sydney.
I am a very handsome 9 lb black Shih Tzu boy and am just packed full of love! I am 11 yrs old and I was born on September 8, 1998. I am a retired breeder.
I will need a very special home for you see I am blind. My retinas are detached and unfortunately I will never be able to see again. This does not slow me down however. Once I know where everything is at I do just as well as the other pupsters with sight. All you need to do is say my name and my tail is wagging and I am ready to give you lots and lots of kisses. I am looking for a home that understands my special needs and loves me for who I am. I love to be cuddled by Mom and Dad and snuggle right in. I do well with the other pupsters, but it would be wonderful if I could find a home where I would be the one and only. Also, my Mom/Dad would need to be home with me 24/7.
Because I am a senior, my diet is an extremely important factor in my overall health. Mom adds the following supplements: digestive enzymes, probiotics, kelp, NuVet Plus Vitamins, DMG and salmon oil for a healthy balanced meal. I hope that my forever Mom/Dad will love me enough to keep me on a raw diet.
I am house trained and do well during grooming.

I am neutered, current on vaccinations, tested heart worm negative, on Interceptor for monthly heartworm prevention and on a natural flea protection. Total vet costs can be seen at Foster Vetting Costs. My adoption fee is $300.

Shanda
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on March 4, 2006. My name is Shanda.
I am a sweet little Maltese girl weighing in at 5 lbs. I am a young 11 yrs old and I was born on January 15, 1998. I am retired from the breeding world.
The other pupsters here are being so very nice to me and I enjoy cuddling up next to them. Also Mom and Dad are being so very patient and loving with me for at times I can be very shy. My greatest discovery is toys and I love them! It would be wonderful if I could find a Forever Mom/Dad that could be home with me 24/7. I also will need a fenced in yard.

Vanni
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on March 26, 2006. My name is Vanni.
I am a beautiful brindle and white Shih Tzu girl. I weigh 10 lbs and am 15 yrs old. I was born on June 28, 1994. My breeder turned me over to rescue.
I am a very, very shy little girl. I am terrified of strangers and it is going to take me awhile to get accustomed to love and kisses. I am doing fairly well with my Foster Mom and will let her pick me up now and hold me. My main interest in life right now is to lay in a soft cushy bed observing what is going on around me. I am just beginning to investigate the toys. I am very uncomfortable around the other pupsters so would really like a home where I am the one and only. I only have one eye, but Mom says I still am the most beautiful Shih Tzu girl she has ever seen. I am still scared of strangers and can not be placed in a home with small children.

I am a beautiful 13 yr old, 8 lb Maltese girl. I was born on March 3, 1996.
I came from the breeding world, but those days are over and I am looking for my very special home. I love all of the other pupsters here and Mom and Dad tell me every single day how beautiful and sweet I am. There are all of these wonderful toys to play with and I love to snuggle up in the soft beds. I am a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you I am yours forever. I would really like a Mom/Dad that could be home with me 24/7 and a fenced area is a must.

Giselle
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on April 11, 2006. My name is Giselle. I am a very sweet, 13 lb, 11 yr old blonde Pekingese girl.
I was left at the shelter after I lost my Mom because no one in the family felt they could take care of me.
I just enjoy life to the fullest and only ask that I have a lap to sit in, and lots of kisses and cuddles. The other pupsters are so gentle and kind with me for you see I do not have either of my eyes and and am deaf. Mom says I am one smart little cookie. Even though I am sightless and deaf I can find the doggy door, go out and do my business and back in I come. I would love a home where Mom/Dad will be home with me all of the time. I do not ask for much, just your love and kisses.

Aspen
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on April 11, 2006. My name is Aspen.
I weigh 12 lbs and am a beautiful blonde and white Pekingese girl. I am 8 yrs old.
I ended up in this place called a shelter when I lost my owner. Boy, was that scary, but I am safe now and loved. I am surely enjoying life here. Soft beds, good food and friends to play with. I love to romp and play with the rest of the pupsters and toys are my passion. I enjoy all of the loving I can get from Mom and Dad. I can be a bit bossy sometimes with the other pupsters, but when Mom and Dad talk to me about it I realize that I need to behave myself. I lost my right eye due to glaucoma and am on daily eye medications for my left eye. I would love a home where I had another pupster to keep me company.

I am house trained, enjoy going whereever Mom and Dad go and do well with grooming.

Echo
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on May 3, 2006. My name is Echo.
I am a handsome red and white Shih Tzu boy weighing in at 14 lbs. I am 12 yrs old and I was born on August 13, 1997.
I have made quite a few puppies in my day and it is now time for me to just lay back and relax. I am a sweet, gentle soul who wants nothing more than a lap to sit on and lots of love and kisses. I enjoy all of the other pupsters and can keep up with the best of them. I have visited the ophthalmologist because I have cloudiness and pigmentation in my eyes due to decreased tear production. Although I still can see well, I must be on daily eye drops for the rest of my life to prevent impairment or loss of vision. I would love a home with at least one other pupster to play with.

Sherman
I was welcomed into the rescue and my angel's loving arms on July 7, 2006. My name is Sherman.
I am a handsome 11 yr old red Pekingese boy with a bit of white here and there. I weigh 12 lbs and was born on December 4, 1998. I am a retired breeder.
I am a very sweet little boy and enjoy everything around me. I am very quiet and am a bit shy, but once I get to know you look out for my sweet Pekey kisses! I get along well with all of the other pupsters and sure enjoy snuggling with them at nap time. I have only one eye, but that does not slow me down a bit. I just know there is someone out here that will give me all the belly rubs I need. A fenced yard is a must and I would prefer no small children.

I am a beautiful 5 yr old Bichon Frise girl. I was born on July 5, 2004 and weigh 11 lbs. I am a retired breeder.
I get along wonderfully with all of the other pupsters and enjoy cuddling next to them during naptimes. I am an extremely shy little girl and will run from Mom at times. It is going to take me awhile to trust and love, but I know it will happen. I watch all of the other pupsters getting lots of belly rubs and cuddles and it does look like fun. Someday I will know all is well. I would love a home where Mom/Dad could be home with me all of the time and a fenced in yard would be great.
