Peke A Tzu Rescue
Sanctuary for Seniors & Special Needs

Peke A Tzu Rescue is a Non-Profit Shih Tzu Rescue and Pekingese Rescue exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are also active in Maltese Rescue, Poodle Rescue, Yorkie Rescue and Mixed Small Breed Rescue. Our primary location is in Trufant, Michigan but we do have foster homes in Indiana and Florida. The rescue is comprised of volunteers donating their time and love. We do not receive any money from city, county, state or federal governments. The volunteers are not paid except with pupster kisses and adoration. Many of the gift shop items are donated by volunteers so that the rescue receives 100% of the sales proceeds. Also a volunteer has designed and maintains our website so that we do not have website fees with the exception of server costs. We rescue dogs from local animal shelters, animal control facilities and private owners. All are fostered in our homes until they find their Forever Home. All vetting needs are addressed upon arrival with the appropriate follow up vet visits. We also provide a Pre Adoption Physical which is done within a 7 day period prior to adoption. This physical includes a wellness exam and fecal. A copy of the Pre Adoption Physical with our veterinarian's signature will be supplied to the adopter. We will keep an update of total vetting costs at Foster Vetting Costs. We do adopt out of state, but request that the Adopter fly in or drive in to get the baby. Additional information on adoption can be found at Adoption Guidelines.

Designer Handbag Fundraiser
Authentic designer handbags from Prada, Louis Vuitton, Coach and more have been generously donated to Peke A Tzu Rescue to raise funds for vetting expenses for our senior and special needs fosters. Many critically ill and senior fosters have gone to Rainbow Bridge and were unable to be adopted into a loving family of their own. We are left with huge vet expenses from these precious babies and our financial resources have been depleted. With the current economy, some of our previous donors have chosen to discontinue donations.

Please Help Ashley!

Ashley is a puppy mill survivor. At the age of 10 she was still being used to produce puppies. She is one of the lucky ones for she escaped and is now safe and loved. Ashley is diabetic and we are currently monitoring her sugar levels until they are stabilized. She takes her twice daily shots like a little trooper. Our ophthamologist has diagnosed diabetic cataracts and Ashley has very little sight. She is currently on daily eye drops until further evaluation. Because of Ashley's diabetic issues she cannot go through any surgery at this time. She has mammory tumors that need to be removed and she will be spayed at that time. After surgery is completed Ashley will return to the ophthamolist to determine if her sight can be restored. Vetting costs are mounting for this sweet little girl and any donations would be greatly appreciated.

2009 Peke A Tzu Rescue Calendar

Our 2009 calendar is here! This is a project we have wanted to complete for quite some time and we hope to continue from this year forward. We feel so fortunate to have these babies in our lives and felt sharing them within a calendar would be the ultimate tribute to those we hold so dear.

We would like to share a preview of the calendar with you through our 2009 Calendar Slideshow. Please note that text is blurred a bit in the presentation, but will be crisp and clear within the calendar.
Please visit our Gift Shop for more information and to order your calendar today!

We Need A Freezer
Sherman the Meat InspectorNixie checking out the freezer
We are in desperate need of another food freezer. We are currently feeding all of the Peke A Tzu Rescue Pupsters a nutritious raw diet that is delivered frozen. As you can see from the photos below, our freezer is full! In order to save money, we have to order a month's supply of food at one time so we need the second freezer.

Rescue symbolism of The Twelve Months of the Year

The Twelve Months of the Year symbolize the abuse and neglect that occurs every minute of every day throughout our world. The shelters and streets are filled with unwanted babies crying out in despair. We as rescuers meet the challenge with open arms, compassion and an unending capacity to spread our love to all of these little ones that need us so much every single day of every single month of the year. The Holiday Season is known for the giving spirit in all of us. Please open your hearts to all of these needy souls who just need a kind word, a soft pat on their heads, plentiful food, a nice warm bed and most important of all
OUR LOVE
to once again make their lives whole.
We will warn you though….there is a slight cost, For each sweet baby walks away with a piece of your heart.

by Jan Collins ©
11-25-05
Dedicated to all of our babies
who return our love with enthusiasm and kisses
every single month of the year.
