Peke A Tzu Rescue

Peke A Tzu Rescue
Sanctuary for Seniors & Special Needs

Peke A Tzu Rescue is a Non-Profit Shih Tzu Rescue and Pekingese Rescue exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are also active in Maltese Rescue, Poodle Rescue, Yorkie Rescue and Mixed Small Breed Rescue. Our primary location is in Trufant, Michigan but we do have foster homes in Indiana and Florida. The rescue is comprised of volunteers donating their time and love. We do not receive any money from city, county, state or federal governments. The volunteers are not paid except with pupster kisses and adoration. Many of the gift shop items are donated by volunteers so that the rescue receives 100% of the sales proceeds. Also a volunteer has designed and maintains our website so that we do not have website fees with the exception of server costs. We rescue dogs from local animal shelters, animal control facilities and private owners. All are fostered in our homes until they find their Forever Home. All vetting needs are addressed upon arrival with the appropriate follow up vet visits. We also provide a Pre Adoption Physical which is done within a 7 day period prior to adoption. This physical includes a wellness exam and fecal. A copy of the Pre Adoption Physical with our veterinarian's signature will be supplied to the adopter. We will keep an update of total vetting costs at Foster Vetting Costs. We do adopt out of state, but request that the Adopter fly in or drive in to get the baby. Additional information on adoption can be found at Adoption Guidelines.

  • IN MEMORY
In March of 1967 our family went through one of the greatest losses of our lives. Our Mother passed away at the young age of 50. As we struggled with the loss a small spiral notebook was discovered containing many poems that our Mother had written in her last days on this earth. We would like to share one of these poems with all of you and hope that by sharing some of her inner most thoughts it will soothe your souls as it has ours for many years.

    TRUE CHRISTMAS

A child one Christmas evening climbed on her Mother's knee,
and eyes alight with wonder asked, looking at the tree,

Do you think Dear Jesus had a Christmas tree,
or got presents from Santa Claus when he was young like me?

No Dear, there was no Christmas, no tree, no Santa Claus,
'twas he who brought this all about, and oh, at what a cost.

You're but a babe yourself dear, but this I must relate,
'tis not presents, tree or Santa, that makes Christmas Eve so great.

My Dear always remember, through Jesus Christ alone,
God gave the greatest present the world has ever known.

Long years ago the prophets foretold this great ones birth,
and with the birth of Jesus the word was brought to earth.

So on this Christmas Eve Dear, please pray to God with me,
the Christ Spirit renowned the world around and keep our nation free.

    Designer Accessories and Jewelry Fundraiser
Authentic designer handbags from Coach, Baby Phat, and Tignanello along with Coach shoes and beautiful gold and diamond jewelry have been generously donated to Peke A Tzu Rescue to raise funds for vetting expenses for our senior and special needs fosters. 100% of the proceeds goes directly to the Pupsters' Food and Vetting expenses.
This time of year all of the pupsters have their heartworm tests and are scheduled for dentals if needed. The cost for this care including heartworm preventative exceeds $20,000 annually.
In addition many critically ill and senior fosters have gone to Rainbow Bridge and were unable to be adopted into a loving family of their own. We are left with huge vet expenses from these precious babies and our financial resources have been depleted.
With the current economy, some of our previous donors have chosen to discontinue donations.

All designer items have been authenticated by the donor. All jewelry has been authenticated and appraised by a Graduate Gemologist. A picture of the appraisal is included with each jewelry piece.

Rescue symbolism of The Twelve Months of the Year

The Twelve Months of the Year symbolize the abuse and neglect that occurs every minute of every day throughout our world. The shelters and streets are filled with unwanted babies crying out in despair. We as rescuers meet the challenge with open arms, compassion and an unending capacity to spread our love to all of these little ones that need us so much every single day of every single month of the year. The Holiday Season is known for the giving spirit in all of us. Please open your hearts to all of these needy souls who just need a kind word, a soft pat on their heads, plentiful food, a nice warm bed and most important of all
    OUR LOVE
to once again make their lives whole.
We will warn you though….there is a slight cost, For each sweet baby walks away with a piece of your heart.
